Soy wax candles are becoming increasingly popular thanks to their natural ingredients, long burn time and subtle scent. In order to fully enjoy the benefits of soy wax candles and ensure their longevity, it is important to follow some simple rules for use and care.
First burning of the candle
Full burn time : When first burning a soy wax candle, let it burn for at least 2-3 hours or until the entire wax surface has melted. This prevents a "tunnel" from forming in the wax and ensures even burning in the future.
Regular trimming of the wick
Trimming the wick : Before each time you light the candle, trim the wick to about 5 mm. This prevents excessive smoking, sooting and too rapid burning of the wax.
Safe use
Stable surface : Place the candle on a stable, fireproof surface, away from drafts, children and pets.
Do not leave unattended : Never leave a burning candle unattended. Make sure the lights are off when you leave the room or go to bed.
Safety distance : Keep a lighted candle at least 10 cm from other flammable objects.
Burning and extinguishing the candle
Burning time : Avoid leaving the candle burning longer than 3 hours at a time to avoid overheating the wax. Extinguishing the candle : Use a candle extinguisher or lid to extinguish the candle. Avoid blowing it out, as this may cause fuming and spattering of wax.
Care of the light
Removal of wick residue : After each burn, remove any wick residue from the wax surface to ensure the purity and clarity of the candle. Storage of candles : Store the candles in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat. This preserves their properties and fragrance for longer.
Ecological aspects
Use of leftovers : After the candle has burned out, the remaining wax can be used in a scented warmer or to make new candles. The glass container can be reused or recycled.
Problems and their solutions
Tunneling : If the light begins to form a tunnel, wrap aluminum foil around the top, leaving an opening in the middle. Let the candle burn for a few hours until the entire surface is liquid.
Sooting : If the candle starts to soot, trim the wick and make sure the candle does not burn in drafts.
